When I was young my parents did something really cool. On Christmas morning, my family always gathered around our tree and exchanged presents. We all took turns unwrapping our treasures. Getting gifts is always lots of fun. At some point in the morning, we'd each unwrap a present from my mom and dad and inside the box would be a single piece of paper that said something like 'a winter coat was donated in your name to a thirteen year old girl'. That was the gift. I had one less object to call my own so someone else in the world could have something they needed. Looking back, I can't really remember to many things that I got for Christmas over the years. Those boxed pieces of paper explaining what I had given are really what I remember most fondly.
This Christmas I personally invite each of you to accept my "Charity Challenge". The directions are simple. As Christmas is approaching and loved ones are shopping ask someone to not buy you a gift but instead make a donation in your honor to Brittany Conley's 'Dollar for a Dream' campaign. That's it. The donation can big or small. The point is - you'll be doing something great for someone else and when you do that - you can't help but feel great too.
This post wraps up our special fundraising week for Brittany Conley. Brit has taught us about the importance of skin care and inspired us with her determination to overcome challenges in pursuit of her dreams. We thank her for being brave and honest and sincere in sharing her story with us. We wish her the best as she prepares for the amazing experiences that await her in Ghana as she serves the children of the Lighthouse Orphanage.
Next week the site will have all new contributors with stories of their own to share. However, Brit will continue to raise money for the next month so please, please...please tell friends and family to come check out Brittany's story and if possible make a donation HERE.
Here's a few quotes just to get you in the giving mood. These are words worth weighing.
"I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver." - Maya Angelou
"The manner of giving is worth more than the gift." Pierre Cornelle
"The value of a man resides in what he gives and not in what he is capable of receiving." - Albert Einstien
"Giving is more a dictate of the heart than a command of the brain." - Henry A. Rosso
"Giving feels good. It is a form of healing. Not just for you as an individual, but for everyone" - Jennifer Beals
If a donation of money isn't possible you can still give by donating some time and energy in spreading the word. Like this on Facebook. Tweet about us. Instagram a pic of Brit. Get creative. Take the 'Charity Challenge' and pass it on. Thanks girls!

Thank you so much Nicole, This seriously has meant the world to me. You will be blessed <3
